Calling all the childless cat ladies
Trump's running mate thinks women without children are miserable and shouldn't have a say in the future. Time to meow-bolise...
Maybe you know one. Perhaps you’ve seen one on the loose, prowling the streets, miserable and alone. I speak, of course, of the ‘childless cat lady’ - the phrase used by Donald Trump’s VP candidate, JD Vance, to describe the sort of women he thinks will be running the US if the Democrats have their way.
Forget Project 2025. The greatest threat to the world’s largest economy is a woman who hasn’t ‘fulfilled her biological destiny’ and owns a feline. Heaven forbid! Lock your catflaps and batten down the hatches! Quick!
The TV interview in which Vance makes his charming comments is from 2021 but has resurfaced now for good reason. That reason being that he’s made the jump from being a mere author running for the Senate to potentially becoming one of the most powerful politicians in the world. So it matters.
“We are effectively run in this country.. by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too” he said, going on to namecheck current VP and potential Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris specifically.
I don’t know about you, but I think it’s more dangerous to have as President a man who once said “If Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”
